I guess the reason is that rootfs is on a different chip that is probably faster than the /home chip.
It might also be interesting to change the Power saving mode of your WiFi connection. Try and set it to Off and play some YouTube movies again.

This setting is found under Settings -> Internet connections -> Your SSID -> a few next until you see the Advanced button -> Pick Other tab
