Paying for apps does not always negate open source. The argument that a new one will be released is not a very good one because you can say that about every device on the market. You can even say that about an entirely different product too.

The N900, while it has is flaws, is not incomplete. The N900 is as much of a test platform as the 770 and 8xx. That is to say, not at all. People who buy this device know exactly what they're getting into.
That is to say, people who aren't into casual gaming, and people who are, both own N900s. The evidence lies in the fact that DrNokSNES, Picodrive, SCUMMVM and other emulators are one of the most popular apps on the N900. Not even mentioning the amount of interest that goes into the PSX4ALL development. (hoping that zodttd will get into the N900 business ).
