I have the same problem, when I start open office from the desktop and open a document i am stuck with Styles and Formatting and cannot get rid of it. When I start open office from LXDE and open a document I do not have this problem, but it doesn't seem to address how to close Styles and Formatting when starting open office from the desktop. Any body have any hints on how to close Styles and Formatting? I would rather start open office from my desktop rather that having to go into LXDE first.
