Yes, this is very much normal.

I have also ZAGG InvisibleSHIELD screen protector...
and it is great! I like this type of gripping surface...
I am not fan of slippery feel at least these types of situations.

And there is very little what can do about at this type of resistive technology. Maybe software calibration that pressure is different at the different screen areas, helps.

I think, if I remember correctly that some devices even uses that.
