Frankly I don't care about portrait mode myself, I use it once in a blue moon (when standing on the metro), although I don't like auto-rotation. I prefer manual switching into portrait mode.
It is more than possible. But then, I can't really figure out HOW MANY developers are working under Maemo5.
I WAS developer, having sources, Abstract Data Types, living the insides of Maemo5... how many code-hours could you spent making a desktop-maemo apps-menus-pops portrait mode? (please, not again "widgets are not square", there're two obvious solutions).
Yes, you are right. And I hopefully wrong, because ONE developer is too short for this "enterprise" of n900.
