I'm not worried about development stagnancy, in three years we will still see people using the N900 on th streets, ignoring the newer models. For an example, think about the N95, I see dozens a week but I've only seen one N95 8gb, one N96 and two N97's. Hell, I bought the N95 a year and a half after its release.

I don't know if the N900 will live long on internet blogs but it's definetly going to stay in the real world.
