I don't think he will come back(Evil Monkey). I have the Nexus One and I missed the N900 for a couple of days. Then I realized that instead of having to search and type in stuff I don't know anything about, there's an app for that. I mean it's fine and dandy that we can use the internet as if it's on a desktop but there is no ease of use.
Nokia is selling hardware and that's it. It is very apparent in their strategy. Why not fully create the OS instead of having a transitional OS. Who does that?.....Nokia. They need to take a page from HTC and build phones for fully developed OS's. What kind of strategy has a company releasing step 4 of 5? Why not focus fully on one thing and make it perfect. No one wants experimental devices that are not going anywhere. N8 is going to be upgraded the Symbian 4? What the hell? How about stop releasing all these phones and focus on the user experience? Apple got it, Android is getting it, and WinMo(regardless of how bad it is).
The end user is the one that needs to be impressed with the device. Nokia obviously didn't care enough to make an environment that is conducive for developers to make apps. They release the SDK and don't give the QT to everyone so we can enjoy the fruits of the labor of these developers. I commend them for their efforts but it is hard. They have limited resources and limited time. Then they can't know for sure if their apps will work great because they have no feedback as to what problems exist, if any.
Believe me when I say that it is a great phone or mobile computer(depending on your perspective) that can mke calls. I know I bought a phone that can do computer stuff. Didn't they say the same for N95???? But don't say that when this whole app thing started that when you bought this phone with the specs it had you did not expect some amazing apps to come along. It has been a whole six months with no confirmation of support the MeeGo device from the company itself. It might be supported by the community but who wants that when you just paid $600 for a phone. Community support is not the same as commercial support. You have to get this program, edit this line, open this app while the other app is getting started. It gets frustrating. Many people want to click on a button a have it work. Not lazy, but it is what we expect as consumers in this day and age-at least I do. Closest thing we have for Facebook integration is Hermes-which isn't the greatest by the way. On the Nexus One get a contact and it tells me what their last update was when looking at the name. Not on N900. I have to open the browser and look at the stream to see what they said. Don't tell me about the widget that drains juice all the time and isn't that great.
All I'm saying is that I agree with the OP and think that they need to do a better job. And the flash thing is getting weird. 9.4 is on the N900 while 10.1 is the standard now. Some sites wont allow you to view anything flash without the 10.1 upgrade. Sure, Adobe showed off 10.1 working on an N900 but didn't they do that for the HD2? It was getting support then they said no, we are waiting for Windows 7 mobile or whatever it's called. So no flash support for Hd2 and I am wondering will the same happen to the N900? Is Nokia waiting on the end of Q2 to release this update(pr1.2)? Will it have the updated flash components needed? It seems the longer they wait the more expectations build(unrealistic almost) and the more let down consumers will feel let down after the update.
They have changed their leadership structure, as reported on Engadget today, to get things moving faster. That is an admission of failure. If things were hunky-dory at Nokia nothing like this would take place. I think a lot of people were hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray when buying this phone. Although I am no longer a N900 owner I still visit the site daily as if I had one. I sympathize with the frustrated users and I appreciate the patient people who can wait and are totally satisfied with their device.
It just seems that there is a very vocal group of users growing increasingly dissatisfied with the inability of Nokia to communicate their intentions and give their consumers what they want in a timely fashion. Most of the time this results in businesses closing. Nokia is huge so they can weather the storm. They might be heading in the direction of being seen as a value phone maker instead of a specialty device maker. I know they have bungled like four flagship phones in a row (including N900) and about to be five with the N8. None of their phones since the N95 were greeted with adoring arms. Yes the N97 is a best-seller but I can guarantee that people were not satisfied when they bought this phone as evidenced by their own admission. I just wish they could communicate more what their intentions are. I don't think Meego will be officially supported by Nokia on the N900 because they would have said so already. It makes no sense to keep something like that under wraps when it will reassure consumers that they can confidently purchase the phone and not have it outdated as soon as Meego is finished-or even wait on some community member to make something "work" on the phone. It is totally absurd that this is going on, to be honest. Even if the community solution works to support the N900 it wont be on the same scale and tenacity that Nokia can produce. E.g. fMMS-How the hell did this get left out? It works, but not for some people. If you are not willing to get your hands dirty then that might not be an option for you. I don't want to get started on the overclock app and all the damn line edits and tweaks needed to make it great. It is cool in its current form but not ready for prime time-just like everything else on this phone.

I don't wish to get flamed or trolled or whatever. Thanks for your time. If I have made some incorrect assumptions or anything else, please be grown about it and say something constructive. THX!!!
