The main risk of damage with the O/Cing is that the device gets locked into 100% CPU sometime in the night and then stays that way for an extended period going unnoticed and fries.

Getting locked at 100% usage is a bit of a risk, especially with Devel and Testing apps installed.

Nokia are a business and have chosen a path of using the OSS community phenomenon to reduce their overheads specifically after sales support and development. Unlike Apple who do the opposite and make a killing from their Applications store.
