EDIT: I tried 2 simcards from different providers ...
known issue when doing the PR1.2 (RC) -> PR1.1.1 transition.
Look at the many threads about downgrades for the solutions to get back cellular capabilities...

(short story: PR1.2 has new modem firmware, not compatible w/ PR1.1.1, and downgrading won't reflash old firmware)
