An old pilot flying for Delta airlines was landing at Frankfurt airport for the first time.
The Frankfurt tower is known to be harsh and rude to pilots.
After having landed the pilot was unsure which way he needed to taxi to get to his gate so he radioed the tower for directions.
The conversation went as such:

Pilot: "Frankfurt tower, this is Boeing flight 7741, request directions for taxi to gate B35."

Tower: "Flight 7741 please advance to causeway and await further instructions!"

The pilot proceeded to park the plane for a few minutes while awaiting further orders from the tower. After 10 minutes withour further instructions the pilot repeated his request.

Pilot: "Tower, this is flight 7741, request directions for taxi to gate B35."

Tower: "7741 HAVE YOU NEVER FLOWN TO FRANKFURT BEFORE?!"

The old pilot, without missing a beat replied:

Pilot: "Yes, once. In 1944, but it was dark and I didn't stop."
