That's not a rebuild. That's SOP for testing "testing" apps. They can bork so much you'll never be sure what state your device is in.

Backup/test/flash/restore. Takes about 20 minutes, other then the "testing" bit. You've probably spent more time then that already trying to avoid "rebuilding" your phone.
