I know how you feel.

Last year, when I was looking into buying a new phone I considered the iPhone then decided I wanted an android phone. Then i discovered Nokia were going to release the n900 I decided to wait.
Almost 5 months of waiting I got the n900 and I am completely happy with it.

It runs Linux, is also open-source and programmable.

To me that means future-proof. Even if Nokia abandoned it I still have the option of writing software for it (Python is installed as standard).
