From all my reading here it seems like everyone, except me, can use ssh from a Windows/Linux machine to access their N800. And it sounds like everyone, except me, can ping their N800 from other machines. Why can't I do those things?

I'm running the new firmware, which I've reflashed a couple of times to make sure I'm starting clean. Xterm and openssh are installed and work great to let me ssh into my Linux boxes at home and at the office. I've taken a couple of long trips now where the N800 was used more than my notebook computer - no problem at all with many different wireless hotspots. Networking apps like the Mozilla browser, Skype, and Claws-mail work almost flawlessly.

So I'm convinced that my N800 is functioning as it was intended - no obvious problems. But I have never been able to ping the N800 from anywhere else. And I can't reach the N800 via ssh (the sshd process is running and is listening on port 22).

I haven't read about firewalls or anything that needs to be changed before I can access the N800 remotely, so what's going on?
