I read the article and also the accompanying blog. It reads like propoganda to me.

Of course the kid on the rubbish dump would rather work in a sweatshop. So would any rational person. The posts by devu, hardkorek and ndi express this idea far better than the article does in my opinion.

What bothers me is the false dichotomy, either live in a "Dante-like vision of hell" or enrich a corporation in a sweatshop. Worker controlled industries or any non corporatist solution will never exist for the NY Times and its ilk.
