I'm developing an application with PyMaemo+PyGame for the Nokia N900 device.

Question:

Can I "force" the display backlight on somehow? I would like to do that before the application starts but I haven't found a way to do that (yet).

(obviously the backlight is on if you are using the phone and start the application but if you start the application, for example, via SSH then the display stays in the "off-state".)
