In Calendar Settings, Edit Calendar, delete the Birthdays smart calendar then click done. This does not delete any contact data, just the generated calendar. Go back into Edit, and re-add the smart calendar, then wait as the phone rebuilds it.

Seems to happen a lot since PR1.2
