I did see a link in the Mer guide so you can install Mer to SD FROM THE N900 ITSELF...

Has anyone tried it this way (and had it work on SD)?

"In case you don't have a card reader or a PC with a Linux installation around, you can do this installation completely on the N900 itself (after all, Maemo is a Linux distribution).
You do need to use GNU tar in stead of the Busybox version in Maemo. You can get it the binary from the deb file inhere:
http://repository.maemo.org/pool/fremantle/free/t/tar/
BTW, it can be installed onto a 500Mb partition, but there will be barely any room left."

I ultimate plan is to have Mer (LXDE), Android and Easy Debian all installed to an 8GB SD Card.
As a matter of fact, I did ... but ended up in the exactly same situation as when I installed it on a linux PC ... Mer not booting.

But I must say its much more convenient - only you need to set up qole's repository (you can find it here on the forum) and install gtar (gnu tar for maemo) ... and I also use cfdisk to partition the microSD card ...

Anyway, still trying to make it boot up ...
