I mean all the guys in the Mypaint/drawing-threads have been super nice and really such a cool bunch, but overall this forum has slipped into a hell hole. I tried to avoid the other threads but well, you end up reading some of the stuff anyway and then your blood pressure gets up again. Guess I'm just too sensitive.

So now I come to this place as little as possible only to see what's happening with Maemo/MeeGo. I'm really thankful for all the pro-Maemo/N900 people here, all you developers and such, since you're doing a great job. All the whiners should take a good look in the mirror and see who's the biggest problem (i.e. why did you buy the device if you didn't know what you were buying...). Legitimate problems of course should be talked about, but the constant trolling is really quite sad.
I wanted to thank you personally for this post. It is the only thing worth reading and responding to in this entire thread.

If I could I would strip out any names and make it my generic, default reply to threads that are started asking: "Why aren't there any apps." or "How come it doesn't do this or that".

***

To everybody else who may have been here before the Bloggers inherited the demo devices at the summit.

Look around. Do you see any of the familiar names we used to see involved in just about every thread in order to provide assistance? I don't and pasih's post is an indicator why.

We still had many a thread that were argumentative or started out hostile because of a perceived short coming in the Maemo device at the time (I know because I started a few myself) however, because of the positive input and genuine help provided by other members more often than not, the OP modified his position and became a die hard Maemo fan or moved on.

I'm sure the same input and help would be given now and by some of the very same people (I know because I still see them when they sign on, they just don't post.) except now, they hardly get a chance.

Now a days shortly after a thread is opened it gets peppered by drive by, one line posts. These one liners usually carry with them the posters personal agenda and once one sticks, a lot of members who have nothing to add to the topic pile on.

In the short time it takes to craft a well thought out post that does actually address the original topic, the whole nature of the thread has changed and that helpful member ends up tossing his post. After doing that a few times, he or she will go away or just not reply.

This ain't twitter, it used to be a working forum but somewhere between the summit and when that long *** "When will it be released in the UK" thread finally broke up, the focus of this forum changed.

I'm old school. if I don't have something constructive to say in a thread then I STFU. I suspect that many of the others I spoke of earlier might think the same way...

Now there are plenty more dang threads, just not as many constructive ones as before.
