Low battery life despite the low processor speed and stepping My battery does not last more than 6 hours if I connect to msn chat, etc but other devices other than blackberry have this same problem Maemo stability very poor compared to current phone OSes My device is terribly unstable but don't know if it maemo or just the fact that my N900 is rubbish. I envy all those iphone owners that have fluid devices. Fragile mini USB slot As I mentioned my N900 has been sent for repairs due to faulty USB port. Disappointed with Nokia. Their devices used to be known for being very sturdy and not having manufacturing defects, etc. Promise of freedom with linux but the average user can't do more than on any other OS and is actually restricted by the limited number of developpers and clouded by its fanbase Agree with this but Conboy alone is so amazing I almost don't even care if no other app ever comes out. I am sure many others have apps they find amazing but agree would be nice to have more apps. Maybe the partnership with Intel will help otherwise Nokia can never compete with google or apple for apps. GUI not fluid, stutters most of the time - EVEN WHEN NO APPS ARE RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND Agree. But don't know if it is general problem or just my crap N900. Community members mock the average user Common problem here. People are a bit too sensitive about anything negative said about Nokia. I wish it was not so. I find it a bit annoying. Very slow updates from Nokia with none of the needed major changes are brought to the OS that has been ditched. I think Nokia has certainly lost its way in recent years. Big shame. Allowed apple to come out of nowhere and steal the show and now are being left behind by HTC. No official MMS app Yeah Nokia talk about unnecessarily leaving basic features out. Let's not even talk about all the basic missing phone features (if you do some will just excuse it by saying it is not a phone). GPS software is outdated and is pretty much useless without voice navigation GPS takes forever to sync with a satelitte unless it uses an internet connection. No such problem with the N95. Only tried using Ovi maps once and it crashed my device so can't comment on how poor it is. Music player is too primitive with no equalizer or good alternative players around, yes i've tried them all. Bought the N900 to function as my phone/mp3/mp4 player. The stuttering on videos for first few seconds is shameful and the media player in general is worse than a £10 mp3 player. Setting up Gmail on it is a hassle and is probably not possible Use Nokia Messaging and you are fine. I have push email on my msn, yahoo and gmail accounts just by running them through Nokia Messaging. Cheap resistive screen gets scratched very easily unless you buy a screen protector Yeah mine got terribly scratched even though I was taking very good care of it.
