Although you are right about 3rd party developers not being guilty, Nokia was clearly incompetent on get Ovi Store working for N900... Most of us saw the various failed tests they did with paid content since the store was available.

I am sure this delay made a lot of 3rd party developers to give up on Maemo 5 and N900. Check the history from the Sygic thread to see company representatives complaining about Nokia Ovi Store... and you saw what happened, they gave up waiting and started selling through their own website.
