The new version of Easy Debian in Extras-devel (0.9.48) adds a new Maemo-side script, /usr/bin/fixfocus that runs the necessary chroot commands to get keyboard focus back, but it is more elegant, works with any m5 image, and doesn't have localization issues. So no new image or editing is required. The fixfocus script can be used with any window with keyboard focus problems. Just give it the window name as a parameter.
