Perhaps you could use it as a reason to develop your language portfolio? I mean, several of us entering the competition are absolute beginners so you wouldn't be alone, it's a learning experience. Indeed I myself have been Java only most of my life and have started learning Python because of the n900. Nobody expects you to start writing world beating apps overnight, I hope you'll still consider getting involved And if you still feel it's too early to write something for this friendly competition, I hope you'll take the opportunity to learn a bit more about developing for the n900.
