I used to have the same problems - the battery died quickly, phone was slow and was getting slower over time to the point it needed reboots to work. I have found that turning off wifi with the Wifi Switcher is the reason of this weird behaviour (everything worked ok before PR1.2). Try turning off automatic connecting to known wifi APs to save the battery instead.
