I cant quite make sense of this but i think you are saying the charger is the problem? please correct me if i am wrong.

The actual problem is indeed 2 fold as the port inself is glued and soldered to a minute pad on the main pcb and any force would push it clean off the board, the lead from the charger and the usb/pc lead Type CA101 can have raised edges depending on who actually manufactered them and is not easy to plug into the port itself, this is why many on here suggested filing down the connector to make it an easlier fit to the port to relieve forcable pressure plugging or inserting the lead into the port

Why Nokia decided to make the pads minute is beyond me that is why i remove the paint on the "earth" plane either side of the port and soldering to make it solid to the board

I really would like someone to take a closeup pic of a replacement N900 from Nokia so i can see the difference.

Anyhow the usb problem we can safetly say has been solved one way or another thanks once again to this community.
