Actually, I got my device from the real first batch that is supposed to have had the issue, so listen carefully:

1) I used a short usb cable that I have since over a year (worn out) and never had an issue
2) The tiny teeth on any micro-usb male have to be pushed down (with a pen or so) because their grip is much stronger than it should be.
