I am sure that this is not a Tmobile problem, as I never experienced this with my n95. I did however, experience something very similar with my old ipaq years ago and it was resolved through a firmware upgrade.

For now, I just use the 2g/3g applet to poll the network manually when i lose service and it finds it again. This seems to be an issue of the dual mode functionality - it will not find automatically find a strong 3g signal as often as it should in my experience
Hmm still, two of us on T-mobile with the same problem. Maybe it is T-mobile--wouldn't know as i was on Verizon before.

Voted and read the descriptions of the problem there and found them identical to my experience.
