I'm not an expert in the matter, just someone who has fought BT driver problems in the past. Here's what I found out:

Broadcom drivers will only work if your BT adapter is based one one of their chips (I guess that's fair enough).

The whole purpose of BT's profiles is to make the functionality independent of what devices you might have on the other end; ie: you could have an N900 or another phone, it shouldn't matter to your laptop, so long as it knows how to speak the given profiles. The BT dongle/adapter's manufacturer, not that of the target device, should provide support of the BT profiles.

In other words, your next step would be to find who the manufacturer of your BT dongle/adapter's chip is and check their Website for software that will support the necessary profiles. If they don't seem to have that, you could always buy a driver from a 3rd party vendor such as Bluesoleil. Do check that your BT adapter's chipset is supported first.
