Lower frame rates->higher quality, however, reducing the frame rate may affect the smoothness of the playback.
But, if you change frame rate, you can have video and audio out of sync.
If you have sync problems, my suggestion is to not change frame rate (leave the box unchecked) and use mplayer instead of built in media player.
Two pass encoding give you a more efficient encode when comparing to one pass but it usually takes at least double the time as the one pass.
Xlnt, thanks! I appreciate the help.

I've been tinkering with this a bit more lately and find that there are actually two versions of the media converter that I've managed to download. Both work fine for the N800 but I've not been able to find the setting in either one to 'Optimize' (crop) the image for a full screen 'effect'. I've checked the box, but the outcome is still letterboxed.

So, what's the consensus (if any) about which converter/setting is best for the high-quality, full screen effect I'm looking for? I've got the time (overnite) for the 2-pass conversion, but if it doubles the size of the file, it wouldn't be worth it to me, alas.
