How did you install Hermes? It suggests there's an installation error ;-)
  1. Open X Terminal
  2. Run /var/lib/dpkg/info/hermes.postinst
  3. Become root (e.g. sudo gainroot)
  4. Run it again: /var/lib/dpkg/info/hermes.postinst

I suspect the postinst couldn't update GConf with the application's Facebook (and other API) keys.
