uhh, that's kind-of the point.
installing nokia messaging on the e71 gives you a home screen "widget" that shows totals for all accounts you have linked to your messaging account. it also shows the subjects for however many of the most recent emails it can fit on the screen, usually 1-3 messages depending on what other notifications are active.
I GUESS THIS IS IN NO WAY SIMILAR BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY WORKS LIKE WE WANT
anyways, my point was that they obviously *CAN* do what we're asking, because this 2 year old phone can do it just fine. I don't believe them when they say it's impossible due to legal restrictions.

I don't really understand your point, are you trying to defend them by saying they made some (stupid) design decisions that limits the functionality of the widget to being a useless shortcut to the actual email application?
