I don't flash my device with Ubuntu or Kubuntu but I'm pretty sure it very straight forward. I flash with my Win7 Pro just fine. Make sure your windows is 32bits. Not hard to follow the instruction on wiki.maemo.org.

For windows:
before you begin: Install OVI SUITE and Nokia USB cable drivers

1. Turn your phone off completely, slide the keyboard Open
2. Plug the USB (large side) to the PC
3. run the CMD and type:
cd "C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5"

4. Now you're in the flasher folder, press hold "U" button (hold it don't let go)
5. Plug the microUSB into the N900 (Keep holding the U button) until you see NOKIA flash screen and the USB sign.

6. run the flashing command. You should know this. (done)
Below is what you should get.

You'll get this if you do it right.

If your computer say can't find driver then try plug the device in when it is on and let the windows installing drivers from it first then proceed the flashing again.

Note: Try unplug and plug it back in a few times. But don't forget to keep holding "U" button.

For 32bits Debian base OS.
sudo dpkg -i path/to/package.deb

or for 64bits
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture path/to/package.deb

otherwise please download this package:
maemo_flasher-3.5_2.5.2.2.tar.gz

From: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php

unpackage it and then
