I think the iPod Touch will appeal to "regular" people, but I like the N800 for my purposes. While on vacation this weekend, I used it to browse the web, read email, listen to music through the speakers, make Skype-phone calls, watch a movie while on the ferry, played Battle jeweled and solitare for a bit, chatted with my friends on Yahoo with gaim, and used secure shell to log into my servers. None of these features are hacks that risk being hunted down and killed by the manufacturer.
