BTW - here's some example output I'm getting when starting various applications:

user:~$ maemo-mapper
osso_initialize failed.
user:~$ maemopadplus
maemopadplus[2463]: GLIB ERROR ** default - file main.c: line 76 (main): assertion failed: (data->osso)
aborting...
