apps is like the web development in the 90's. You had to develop specifically for iexplorer and netscape to get your stuff to work. Things matured and you can now (mostly) get by with unified coding.

Along comes apps for mobiles, and the thing starts over. IOS, Android,webOS,Meego... Apps apart from games is mostly a proprietary way to represent web based information.

If Steves dream comes to life - HTML5 - we can probably move back to the unified web platform (something i'm not sure Stevo has thought through)
