I am not sure Nokia is the best answer. Sure, they will probably put some more features in future upgrades but i like how the community gets the responsibility of development. The best Nokia could do is to open the source completely. And that idea of powersaving is not entirely bad. Make a request for it. A script that unloads unnecessary kernelmodules, lower brightness and if overclocked reduce freq to 250mhz. If i had the knowledge.. i'd done it pronto.
I figured you dont really hate Nokia rather you love her too much that you want everything running on N900 developed by Nokia. However, Im afraid I've to remind you the cruel reality that majority of the default packages come with N900 are not branded with Nokia. If you want a phone runs 100% apps officially from Nokia then you must have bought the wrong phone. The problems you listed can be summarized as "I bought the wrong phone for myself so I can't stop myself yelling". My condolence.
