2)immediatley remove the battery even if the mobile is powered on
3)wipe out any water thats left on the handset carefully
4)put the battery and the mobile in a jar of rice and keep it there for 12+-15hrs
5)the rice will absorb all the water thats left in the mobile
6)I saw a water test in techradar.com
7)they sprayed the n900 with water fully and they did the same to recover from it

Try doing it...there is a good chance that it will work

Thanks, I know the procedure, and I will try, now that I can (haven't been able to yet). However, I think that the water has penetrated in between the two plates that make up the touch screen, and I doubt that the rice will be able to suck that out.
Will give an update if anyone is interested in the end result.
