My opinion would be no. For opening and editing, FreOffice is already good enough. I think, anyway. It can even create new word files, just can't create new presentations or spreadsheets (but it can open and - but don't quote me on this - edit them). The amount of fonts available on it by default is limited, so that may cause some annoyance with fonts being changed on you when some particularly fancy document is open, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's easy to put more fonts in if you just know what folder it goes in.
