will test, tho reading it i worry about any attempt at a uninstall as it may risk leaving the user without a way to launch programs at all.

also, this do not explain how the navigator-menu got unchecked in the panels dialog earlier.

ugh, seems the earlier launcher-navigator have left me with a severely messed up navigator panel, as even with the .desktop renamed i am left with only 2 usable applets rather then 3. There seems to be a ghost applet floating around without icon or menu of any kind, tho it highlights if tapped.

oh, and i am seeing the same segmentation fault as giladmttw.

hrmf, i sure do wonder where maemo is hiding the config files for the panels. Probably in some obvious way if one is familiar with legacy gnome of any kind. Never mind, found it in /home/user/.osso/hildon-desktop/tasknavigator.conf.

hehe, the whole thing is kinda funny. The mandatory entry seems to nearly nothing. Simply changing it to false do not change ones ability to change the checkbox in panels. Commenting it out makes the checkbox changeable, but said checkbox's status seems to be quietly ignored (as it can be mandatory, unchecked and still the mandatory status takes precedence, locking the checkbox from being changed while still demanding that 3 checkboxes gets checked before panels will allow a ok). And even when the applications menu is unchecked, nothing can take up its spot on the navigator panel, resulting in a kind of ghost applet with no real effect.

given all this i feel tempted to poke at replacing app-switcher and switcher-menu with launcher and something that can launch telescope.
