Eh, but, Bun,

if MBR is knocked off, it is of no great importance as long as you don't happen to break your floppy and optical drive at the same time. The master boot record is on the hard drive, it has nothing to do with the BIOS. Grub or Ntldr is on the MBR, which can be easily replaced with a live CD.

I suggest you download the Gutsy Gibbon. It's installer is wonderful and dual-boot (shrinking the Windows parition) can be done automagically.

But, the Windows Migration Assistant and the dual-boot/partitioning auto configurator are already availble in the more stable Feisty Fawn, too.
