@D-livil: Would it be possible for you to fix so that you can choose both the bold font and the normal font? Some entries in gtkrc is supposed to have a font bold in them.
It should keep bold fonts to be bold. If you look the gtkrc -file after saving settings you should see that some has "bold" extension after them.

About that corrupted file -issue: sounds weird, maybe something wrong with the repos? Mine upgraded just fine o_O
