I am successfully using Web2SMS using BiteSMS http://www.bitesms.com/) as the provider. Its not free but at under 10 cents an SMS it sure beats t-mobile or at&t charging 25 cents or more for an international text message! So far I am loving web2sms and highly recommend it - no problems sending from the US to the UK...
