Seems to me it would make more sense for the devs to fix the output dng produced to be compatible with the hugely popular and well-developed open source library dng library, dcraw. Oh wait, they did: yay. Why they don't target it as primary compatibility goal considering it's the definitive open source implementation and this is an open source project was more the point of the original comment. Nothing in any of the links gives a satisfactory answer to that question.
