Anyone reading this thread here is some good advice.
DONT ever attempt to bend or apply pressure on the usb port because it is so badly soldered to the main board it only takes a little bit of pressure to break completely off the board !!!!.
If your device is for whatever reason either out of warranty or you dont want to send back to Nokia then the only thing to do preferably BEFORE it breaks off the board is to open up the device take out the board and if you look carefully at the fixing for the usb port you will see it is only attatched to 4 tiny pads that holds it in place on the MB.
There you will see the very reason NOT to wiggle or force or apply any pressure whatsoever to the usb port untill you scrape away the paint on the MB and literally solder the 4 fixing points properly giving the port a far better hold on the board.
For those who have broken the port clean off the board then you will have to trace back all the 5 data tracks and solder links to the nearest point on the board from the 5 data pins on the rear of the port or socket itself. this is no easy task i can tell you unless you are used to working with fine link wire or very thin wire.
After you have soldered the 4 tabs ( 2 either side ) then you will find the problem will never return as long as you scrape away enough paint to get a real proper fix on those 4 tiny "posts".
I give you this advice after repairing and doing many preventative repairs on this ballsup by Nokia and it works every time if you take your time and be careful, remember to use a fine pointed soldering tip (i use a weller soldering station) and flux.
If in any doubt then either give to an engineer to repair or send back to Nokia with or without the port attatched as they will indeed replace your unit's M/B.
DONT NEVER BEND OR APPLY PRESSURE TO THIS PORT AS IT WILL BREAK 100% SURE OF THAT SO BE WARNED !!!!!.
NB. Please be aware that even if your device is out of it's one year warranty that the faulty design on the usb port is in fact NEVER out of warranty and will be repaired/replaced by Nokia at any point in time, just be persistant and never accept it is your fault in any way and that this IS A DESIGN FAULT recognised now by the maker Nokia.
