I seriously doubt it has much to do with capitalism as much as it has to do with commercialism or perception - more of the latter, a tad bit of the former.

If anything - and I'm gonna piss off a bunch of folks here - I'm personally tired of hearing that this or that is a better option when it has very little in some areas to show for it.

Concept is great. But I cannot go out and by concept. Do people fall for Apple's marketing? Hell yeah. Does it make them dumb and you smart since you don't fall for it? Perhaps not.

But it really just shows that you're easily angered by stuff being different than what you use... when honestly it's just a different rock in a caveman's hand.

The hate, I've never understood. Fanboyism is analogous to patriotism. And talking about stuff but not having truly universally accepted options that can fully replace the thing(s) you hate so much, waste of time.

Who knows. Perhaps there is a true need to evaluate a fanboy. I fear they'll just find a bunch of outsiders that want to be insiders but only based on their limited grasp of what makes an group a functional group.
