Just a few quick questions:
1. DHCP is set up on the router. I'm assuming it's enabled on the phone too.
2. Can you ping the routers IP?
3. Can you ping an outside IP like 74.125.77.99?
4. Can you ping an outside address like 'google.com'?

Try all these from the N900 and report back. You'll need to be root to ping as well.
