Way to go on flattening your battery. Put you phone in you pocket unlocked and see what happens. This would be a bad feature for a resistive screen as any pressure would activate it, on a capacitance screen it would be find, as pressure in your pocket cannot activate it.

As for silencing the phone when it rings, I have found that when sitting down with the phone face down in my pocket it self silences and I think that the person calling has hung up, when in face they are still waiting for me to answer.
Have not tested this to confirm it, but it has happened to me several times while driving, all I got was one ring but the caller said it rang until the answer phone timed out and asnwered the call.
