Just sticking support for a SIM and a phone app into a computer doesn't make it a smartphone.

I agree for once, so what are Nokia on about?

Lets not kid ourselves though, the N900 is more than capable of being a decent smartphone... so why not make the effort? Leave the linux desktop side to the community and let Nokia handle what they should do best.
