The fm transmitter is barely poweful enough for the army to pick up unless you sit next to them! The itrip my mate has for his iphoneis more powerful (i have to hang my arm out the car with the N900 to pick it up in his car, even with boost on).

So it is a viable option for thoses with sensitive radios like mine in my car.
