What the community really needs from Nokia are documented APIs to the hardware and applications providing primary functionality (phone, e-mail, internet, audio, etc) unclosed or
allow primary functionality apps to be written by community.

They only need to provide updates and bug fixes to what they keep closed, so they only are making more work for themselves or increasing resentment by keeping things closed up that do not need to be kept closed up.
