MeeGo uses the Linux kernel and it is definitely capable of providing USB host mode, if there are proper drivers for that on the device that you use.

Eg. USB Host works on Linux on my Laptop. Thus it will work on MeeGo too.

BUT... the fact that MeeGo supports it doesn't mean that every MeeGo device can support it. If someone builds a MeeGo device without proper drivers for USB host, it won't work. If someone builds a MeeGo device with proper drivers, it will work.

We currenty don't know whether the next Nokia MeeGo device will have it or not. (There are speculations about it, though.)

But... the point of my previous answer is: it is not up to MeeGo, but up to the device manufacturer.

Haha! Thanks! Do they pay well?
Actually, the reason I asked the question was because of the work done in maemo to get "USB host" working via software.

AFAIK, the "USB host" hack almost works (inconsistently) but I think the developers are having some kind of trouble with the BME (it's closed source). Also, I think the meego developers are working on an open-source BME which means the "USB Host" hackers can utilise it and maybe solve the problem on Meego.

Also I think the bluetooth drivers on maemo are incomplete(?) but with Meego "being more linux-like" than maemo maybe a proper bluetooth stack will be installable - which hopefully would mean decent device support.

You would be over-qualified to work within Nokia - you can actually converse with other people in an intelligent manner!
